Radar target and calibration spheres which are mass produced, or produced with modern automated machine techniques, often require fabrication from thicker material to maintain sphericity of the finished sphere. Of course, thicker material means higher mass of the finished sphere, which is a negative factor for many of our customers.
Our combination of hand spun spheres and rigorous QA of both the hemispheres, as well as the finished product, means we deliver all of our target spheres within the specifications outlined on our home page, while we keep the overall mass of the finished sphere to an absolute minimum.
